Projects

911 Call Center Newark DE
A unique,  high tech facility completed in 2007. Raymond Couzens coordinated the hydronic systems for Worth & Company. Gilbane Inc was the Construction Manager and General Contractor. They are nationally recognized as leaders in the use of BIM and VDC.

Dansko Shoes Corporate Offices DE
A LEED silver project, this Worth & Co project utilized an underfloor HVAC system. This design afforded the owner maximum flexibility with his furniture layout. It was extremely challenging to coordinate due to limited space in the mechanical rooms. The project was completed in Jan 2008

Phoenix Convention Center Phase 2
This$30,000,000  mechanical project for Interstate Mechanical Corp was brought in under budget by utilizing total station technology for setting out of all wall and floor penetrations. Raymond was responsible for coordination of all the mechanical rooms. The chilled water piping from the cooling plant in Phase 1 was 16" diameter! Completed in August 2008.

Corona Del Sol High School Phoenix
This chiller plant retrofit was successfully prefabricated off-site by Interstate Mechanical using data collected with the total station. David Couzens worked on the installation of the piping seen here. Completed in February 2008.

Back-to back bathroom battery prefabrication
All materials were pre-cut at Guy M cooper's shop from material lists generated by Raymond with Cad-Pipe software, assembled off-site on frames with over sized casters for easy handling on the job-site using jigs for proper alignment. This technique is growing in popularity with mechanical contractors across the country.

Terminal Box Coil Kits
These kits are fast gaining acceptance for speedy        hook-up of reheat coils. The kits come broken down    and this one was assembled off-site by Worth & Company. They incorporate all balancing and isolation devices specified by the majority of engineers.

Oops!
Sometimes even the best coordinated model either wasn't followed or somewhere along the way a field change happened and there was a communication breakdown. Here is a novel solution to just such a problem. As you can see this duct riser is misaligned and had to be split around the structural member. Raymond coordinated the mep systems at weekly site meetings and oversaw the automated sheet metal shop fabrication download process in Worth and Company's state-of-the-art facility.

Automated Plasma Cutter
Yours truly was involved in a very minor role with the cad drawings for constructing this useful jig. Most of the credit goes to Jon Lafey at Worth & Co in PA who designed this tool. Motorized rollers turn a full stick of schedule 40 pipe while the plasma torch can be positioned and angled for either a straight (for grooving) or bevel (for welding) cut. Pipe was placed in the jig by forklift through a really wide overhead door. From the jig the trimmed stick would go either to a double ended grooving station or one of two fit-up welding stations with positioners. With the overhead crane this was one nice shop.

Hard Wired Low Voltage Photocell Flushometers
Every plumbers worst nightmare when combined with block wall types. Invariably a warranty call out is received to troubleshoot a non-functional device that turns out to be a broken wire, which is now behind a finished tiled wall. Not cool, not cool at all! This innovative solution developed at Guy M Cooper Inc called for the low voltage wiring to be run in conduit. The layout was done with CAD and the whole assembly pre-fabricated off-site.

Sunrise Assisted Living Complex
Underground plumbing has huge potential for cost savings when a fully coordinated BIM model is utilized. Excavation, gradng and layout can be performed using data from the model imported into a Total Station, the pipe model is spooled and preabricated off-site, delivered just-in-time, dropped into place, connected up, tested, inspected and backfilled all in one seamless operation. Materials handling, bad weather interruptions, risk etc are minimized and profits are maximized. Of course the entire building design needs to be complete to take full advantage of this system - not an easy thing to achieve in this era of fast-track design.

Metro State College of Denver Student Success Building 2011. CC2BL was selected by AMI Mechanical Inc to assist their CAD Department with the role of lead coordinators and provide wet and dry side mechanical models using Autocad MEP and Navisworks Manage.
Metro State College of Denver Hotel and Hospitality Learning Center, Auraria Campus 2011. CC2BL was chosen to assist the design assist joint venture between AMI Mechanical and LEI Companies with the Hotel portion of the project. The design model developed by Engineers MKK was refined using Revit MEP, clash coordinated using Navisworks Manage before mechanical and electrical shop drawings were produced.
